Vibes Classic events
Through the years the VSA has had (and still has) some of SL surfings funnest and most popular events. Here is a list of events that we are proud to serve up for our members.
Surf-Jam
The Surf-Jam contest series ran from 2008 until 2015 and during that time we had 20 SJ comps. The SJ comp series was our way of getting new surfers a chance to taste comp surfing in a less "formal" format. While we shared a lot of the same fair-play guidelines with the SLSA our "rules" were a bit more.......relaxed.

Some of SL surfings greatest names have an SJ trophy on their bookshelf and quite a few NSJ (new surf junkies) went on to rip it up on the SLSA tour.
Midnight Pipes
The Midnight Pipes events were held on our Pepo sim on the Bishara estate back in 2008. Pepo was designed as a night surfing sim with the help of my dear friend Poid, who created illuminated wave effects for Heathers Pipeline waves. Poid later created glow textures for a line of SSi surfboards and the combo was both stunning and a total blast!

Surfari
Surfari started back in 2010 and continues to this day! The concept was simple: Gather up a gang of surfers and drag them around to 5 or 6 surf sims to spread the Vibe and...make a mess. Surfari has proven to be a great way to spend a couple hours surfing and as no one knows before hand where we may end up, the element of surprise is good Mojo :-)

Splash - n - Dash!
Splash-n-Dash is a timed heats mini-comp series that we first held back in 2016. The concept is pretty simple:Run down to the beach, paddle like hell and grab as many waves as you can in your 10 minute "heat". Similar to a RL surf comp format.

Timed heats make for fast fun, even with a thick roster. A typical SnD with a roster of 24 can be pulled off in "about" 3 hours.

Not sure if these will make a comeback but....one never knows ;-)
Throwback Thursdays
TBT is a new thing, er...an OLD thing depending on how one looks at it.
Every Thursday (00 - 24) Kia Kaha runs old school SSi waves and has plenty of vintage SSi boards laying around for guest surfers.
​
We rotate waves: SSi Pipelines, SSi Pipleines/SSi Fluffs, Seb´s SSi Cortes and even the historic SSi EPIC!
​
If you missed these waves from the early days of SL surfing now is your chance rip it up vintage style!

The Vibes events calendar lists TBT every Thursday but the waves.....you never know.

Tip/Hint: An X-3 on the SSi Pipeline wave is.......sick!
SUP Races
SUP (stand-up paddle board) races are another new(ish) event held on Kia Kaha. The course consists of 8 buoys that we place the day of the event. Makes it tough to practise but...that´s the point!

The race course is never the same and with 5-6 riders battling to round the buoys all at the same time it gets pretty...sketchy. Safe to say though that SUP races are a BLAST.
